Asheville Sun Soo Tae Kwon Do (Asheville, NC) held another high-energy testing earlier this December. By personal invitation from Master Morris, Asheville Sun Soo was honored to be visited by 7th degree Master Mark Nathanson as primary guest judge. Master Nathanson is a long time student of Grandmaster Kim (TKDI founder and president). Testing took place in two parts over two days: Part one was Friday night for Mighty Tigers and white and white-yellow belts (all ages) and part two was Saturday, late morning, for yellow belts and above. Prior to Saturday's part of testing, Master Nathanson taught an excellent sparring strategy class for the Sun Soo black belts. Additionally, we were joined by 4th degree Master Dan Bourelle, from Wilmington, NC. Among the students testing, were four black belt candidates, three testing for 1st Degree and one testing for 2nd Degree. Asheville Sun Soo is proud to announce the promotion of Frank Homolka, age 15, to 2nd Degree Black Belt. Mr. Homolka, who is a part time member of the Asheville Sun Soo assistant instruction staff, was also promoted from "Junior Black Belt" to "Adult Black Belt" by mutual consideration and endorsement from both Master Morris and Mr. Homolka's parents, Gregg and Kelly Homolka.
Promoted to junior 1st degree were Logan Feiler, age 10, Rachel Beaver, age 13, and Shallon Jacques, age 14, who is an "Assistant Instructor in Training." Master Morris and the Asheville Sun Soo Instructors were proud to see the excellent technique and discipline demonstrated by all students at this testing, especially by the black belt candidates. Asheville Sun Soo was thrilled to have Master Nathanson’s support at this testing and, as always, is grateful to be an ongoing member school of TaeKwon-Do International. Looking ahead, Master Morris and Asheville Sun Soo will next test in February on the weekend of the 20th and 21st and will be honored to have three visiting guest Master Instructors, 9th Degree Grandmaster Suk Jun Kim, NJ (Founder and President of TKDI), 6th Degree Master Instructor Paul D'Ambrosio (Aliso Hills, CA) and 4th Degree Master Instructor Mark Tung (Raleigh, NC). Among the highlights of the February testing are expected to be Mr. Ethan Morris testing for 4th Degree and Miss Elizabeth Goyer testing for 3rd Degree. Comments are closed.
